Meet Our Team
Richard opened Hull & Associates in April of 1999 and serves as the president of the agency. He runs the general operations of the agency and works in all areas of the business. Richard concentrates his efforts on the insurance and risk management needs of construction, restaurant and hospitality clients and prospective clients.
Prior to founding Hull Insurance, Richard worked as a producer for another independent insurance agency from 1990 to 1998. Before that he was an orthopedic medical sales representative for Otho-Products, Inc., Charlotte, NC from 1988 to 1990, and a wine sales representative for Johnson Brothers, Inc. in Charlotte, NC from 1987 to 1988. Richard is a 1985 graduate of University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg.
Richard earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1994 and the Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA) designation in 2018. He served on the board of directors for the Alabama Big I for six years. He was president of Young Agents of Alabama Big I and President of Tuscaloosa Independent Agents Association in 2001. He was also a Board of Director at Tuscaloosa Academy from 2009 to 2012.
Richard is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, where he is a past deacon and served on the finance committee and the insurance committee. He is married to wife, Ashley, and they have a son, Frazier, and daughter, Blair. Richard enjoys golf, grilling and college football.
Dee joined Hull & Associates in May 2007. He works as an insurance agent specializing in commercial insurance and bonds. Dee received the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2016 and his Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA) designation in 2018.
Dee received a B.S. Marketing degree from the University of Alabama. He has three children, Tate, Alex and Manning. He is a member of Church of the Highlands.
A native of Tuscaloosa, Tom joined Hull and Associates in August of 2009. He primarily works with our commercial clients. Tom earned the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2016 and his Certified Workers Compensation Advisor (CWCA) designation in 2018.
Prior to Joining Hull and Associates, Tom gained experience as a private banker at Bryant Bank where he underwrote loans and did credit analysis for 5 years. He has a B.S. Finance degree with a minor in Economics from the University of Alabama.
Tom is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa. He is married to Emily and has a daughter, Mary Dunlap, and a son, Thomas.
Shelly joined Hull & Associates in July 2006. She specializes in commercial insurance, claims and billing. She is available to answer client’s questions about insurance coverage and billing, works with underwriters and agents on new and renewing policies, provides evidence of insurance and certificates as needed, helps clients report claims, and maintains client files with important records.
Before joining Hull, Shelly was a personal lines agent at Winfield Insurance Center for ten years. She also has over ten years of experience at State Bank & Trust in Winfield as bookkeeper, teller/loan teller, and secretary to the bank vice-president. She is a Winfield High School graduate and while there took business courses through the vocational program. Shelly has earned her CISR designation.
Robin has worked at Hull Insurance since January of 2008. As a personal lines account manager, Robin works primarily with individuals and families to make certain their personal insurance needs are met. Her duties include sales, preparing quotes, claim assistance, problem solving and overall customer service to our personal insurance clients.
Robin’s past experience includes working in accounts payable for Central Supply Co., assistant office manager at Kirkland Overhead Door, and senior staffing coordinator for Always There In home Care.
Gwen joined Hull & Associates on August 5, 2005. She specializes in commercial insurance working hand in hand with clients to answer questions about their commercial policies with regard to coverage, billing and claims. Gwen works with company underwriters and brokers on behalf of our commercial clients. She also assists clients when claims are made.
Before joining Hull Insurance, Gwen gained experience while working at three other insurance agencies in three different cities in Alabama. Gwen has earned the professional designation of CISR and CWCS.
Candy joined Hull & Associates in December 2008. She works with commercial clients answering questions about their insurance policies and billing. She communicates with company agents and underwriters regarding both new and renewal commercial insurance policies, reviews documents and certificates before sending them out to clients, and helps clients report claims to the proper party while keeping all necessary records in each client’s file.
Candy has worked in insurance since 2004 after receiving an Associate in Applied Science Degree, Office Administration. She has since earned the professional designation of CISR and IC3 Certified.
Lake is a Tuscaloosa native who joined Hull and Associated in 2022. He is an Insurance Agent that works with both Commercial and Personal Line Clients. Lake received the Certified Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) in 2022.
Lake is a Graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree. With his wife Caroline, he has a daughter Sarah Nelle, and a son Edward. He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Tuscaloosa. In his free time Lake enjoys Golfing, Hunting and Fishing.
